Burn the Fat Feed The Muscle: Book Review & Giveaway

About the Author

Tom Venuto’s fitness journey began at age 14, when he watched a movie called Conan the Barbarian, starring Arnold Schwarzeneggar. It was the most awesome physique he’d ever seen, and it was at that moment that he knew he wanted muscles.

Tom went from struggling with his weight, and earning the college nickname “Bob’s Big Boy” to becoming a well-known Natural Bodybuilder.

Tom Venuto has been in the fitness industry since 1990. He is the author of national best-selling book The Body Fat Solution. His articles have appeared in Muscle and Fitness, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Exercise, Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness, Ironman Magazine, and websites such as Bodybuilding.com and Huffington Post.

He was recently named among the 100 most influential people in fitness for the last two years in a row. Oprah Magazine said “Venuto is honest about what it really takes to lose weight.”

Tom Venuto writes on the “mission behind this book” in a letter to friends and colleagues

There is a mission behind this book. My public mission is “to help millions of people get leaner, stronger, fitter and tomvenuto_01healthier.” My deeper, more personal vision is to help bring resistance training and the “body building lifestyle” to a place worthy of mainstream respectability, the way early physical culturists (like Jack LaLanne) intended it to be:  not only to get a great looking body, but also for health, strength, fitness and personal growth.

This is not a weight loss book, per se. My message is not so much about dieting down, it’s about building up people in all the positive ways.

My mission is to bring this message to everyone who needs it, but especially two of the places where it’s needed most:

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbHOne, in the mainstream diet world, where weight loss means “eat less, starve, and deprive yourself,” while strength training and body composition are usually not even on the radar. And two, to the 40-something and 50-something crowd and even the baby boomers, who are transitioning into their golden years, but their strength, muscle, health, quality of life and independence are starting to deteriorate.

Aiming this book to the broader market and not just at the serious fitness crowd (which is already sold on training), is a worthy goal. I hope that we can finally reach that big mainstream audience with the right message of health and strength, communicated in simple terms – with no gimmicks and no typical diet book B.S., just an honest, realistic, common-sense, science-based, proven plan. I believe this is a mission and a movement worth getting behind.

I’m hoping this book will be among the few choices that can be found on mainstream bookshelves that the health, fitness and nutrition pros are comfortable recommending. It’s always been “slim pickins” in that genre, as most trainers and fitness pros tell me (especially in the “fat loss” and “diet” categories).

About Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle

bffmBurn the Fat, Feed the Muscle was first written as an e-book in 2003. It was one of the first best-selling e-books on the internet. It debuted at number one on the fitness e-book charts and stayed there for five consecutive years, which is a record that still stands to this day. It pioneered the fitness e-book industry, as we know it, which exploded the next decade.

To many other long-time e-book readers, myself included, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (A.K.A. BFFM) is referred to as our “fitness bible” and “fat loss bible”.

Tom Venuto gives an honest and scientific approach to fitness and fat loss.

“Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but let’s face it:  Muscle looks better that fat.” –Tom Venuto

This brand new edition is revised and improved. It has been completely revamped with all the latest and up-to-date information. This book contains new material and new workout plans that previously had not been published. This new training program is called The New Body 28 (TNB-28). The original TNB was beta tested and fine-tuned for three years by Inner Circle members.

This is a 28 day program that can be repeated and modified to fit any busy lifestyle. It’s important to note that while this book may have been written by a bodybuilder, it is not just for the bodybuilder. Anyone can benefit from this plan.

There are four elements to this plan, which Tom Venuto refers to as the L.E.A.N. Plan of Action:

1.       Learn: Mental Training

2.       Eat: Nutrition

3.       Activate: Cardio

4.       New Body: Weight Training

All of these elements are vital in this plan. You cannot have success by leaving out any of these 4 core principles.

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle is not a “fad diet” or a “quick fix”. If that is what you are looking for, this book may not be for BFFM_announcementyou. However, I challenge you to read this book, in hopes that it may change your mind and way of thinking. This plan is not a diet, or something you go on and off. It is a lifestyle.

In summary, Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle is a must-have in your fitness library. It has been a must-have in my library for years. This book will guide you on the most effective principles for stripping body fat away while preserving and building as much lean muscle as possible.
